ISLAMABAD: Fotom, a leading Chinese tractor, bus and car manufacturing company, on Tuesday expressed keen interest in marketing its products in Pakistan and discussed cooperation in the transport sector.
A visiting five-member Chinese delegation, led by Zhang Jun, Vice President of Fotom, called on CEO Engineering Development Board (EDB) Asad Elahi here.
The delegation spoke about the potential for production of these items in the country and export demand with the backing of vendors.
The EDB CEO told them that Pakistan was fast emerging as an urbanised country with large migration of villagers to urban areas. Therefore, "the bus sector has a good future in the country."
The Chinese side especially inquired about the LPG market in Pakistan.
The EDB CEO gave salient features of the National Trade Corridor Programme and said that with the introduction of third party trade facilities, the trucking sector would need expansion.
He said there was a big scope for manufacturing of agriculture implements and the EDB had pinpointed 15 main products which could be marketed in the country easily.
